"What am I going to do? What am I going to do?" Marah muttered as she stared at the pregnancy test in her hands. Two pink lines stared back at her.
It had been two months since that fateful night with Elijah. She had read every magazine, every tabloid that had any information about Elijah since then. None of them made mention of a fiance. She wondered why it was being kept quiet. It never occurred to her that the woman was just an ex-girlfriend who still wanted him and would stop at nothing to get him.
Marah butted her head against the bathroom wall. She had no clue what to do. Should she tell him about the baby? And if she were to decide to tell him, how would she get in touch with him? She didn't want to hurt his fiance, but she felt that Elijah deserved to know. Her baby deserved a chance to have a father.
Marah sighed. She knew she had to tell him.
She went to the front desk at the hotel Elijah stayed at and smiled at the man behind the counter.
"Hi Sam."
"Hi Ms. Taylor. What can I do for you?" Sam asked.
"I need some information on a guest that stayed here about two months ago. Would the information still be in the computer?" she asked.
"It should. Might I ask what you need this information for?"
"Dad asked me to come down here and get a phone number and address for a guest."
"Oh, ok. Anything for the boss." he grinned. "Who's records do you need?"
"Wood, Elijah."
"Ok.." he paused as he waited for the computer to search. He scribbled down a phone number and address. "Thanks so much, Sam." she smiled and headed to her fathers office upstairs.
She spoke to his secretary and waited until she was called in.
"What do you need, Sweetie?" her father asked.
"I'm hoping to get permission to take some time off."
"Of course that's no problem. Where are you wanting to go?"
"LA, there's a friend out there that I haven't seen in awhile." she replied.
"I didn't realize you had any friends in LA." he said, searching her face.
"Well, I didn't..but this friend recently moved out there.
"Oh..well, then. Will you be going by plane or by car?"
"By plane. I'd like to get out there as quickly as possible. Is the town house rented out right now?"
"No.. your mother was wanting to go out there in the next few months so I haven't rented it out."
"Perfect." Marah grinned.
Her father stood up and asked her, "When do you leave?"
"Next flight out is this evening."
"Well then you better get moving!" he hugged her. "Call me when you get there, ok sweetie?"
"Sure." Marah replied.

Marah drove the rental car from the airport to the town house. She loved the way the little sports car hugged the road. It was an hours drive to the town house, so she turned on the radio to help pass the time. She glanced out her window at the scenery as she drove past the beach, mansions, town houses, and palm trees. She was anxious to get to the town house.. the long flight and drive did her in. When she finally got to the town house she decided that calling Elijah could wait until the morning and fell asleep in the bed, fully dressed.
The next morning she woke to the sound of the phone ringing by the bed.
"Hello?" she groggily replied.
"Marah! We were so worried!" her mothers voice came through the phone. "Your father said you were supposed to call when you got in and this morning we woke up, you hadn't called and we got scared!"
"I'm sorry Mom, when I got in it was late and I was just exhausted, so I crashed into bed as soon as I got here."
"I know, the flight to LA is horrendous."
"It is."
"Well, you enjoy yourself in Los Angeles. You deserve it, honey!"
"Thanks, Mom, I will." Marah muttered into the phone. "Mom's so fucking cheerful in the morning." she said to no one. "It drives me batty." She yawned and stretched. She glanced by the phone and saw Elijah's phone number and address sitting there, just waiting for her. She sighed and decided she'd rather brush her teeth, shower, and dress before dealing with Elijah.
Thirty minutes later she sat on the newly made bed staring at the telephone. Trying to decide whether she should just pick up the phone and call, or head over to his home. Finally, she grabbed the phone and punched the numbers in. When it started to ring she felt her stomach start to flip.
"Hello?" it was him. She started to speak, but her mouth just opened and shut, nothing coming out. "Hello?" he said again, sounding a little agitated.
"Elijah?" she said softly.
"Yes, who's this?" he asked. Marah said nothing. Then, "Marah? Is that you?"
"Yes, how did you know it was me?" she asked.
"I'd recognize your voice anywhere. Why didn't you ever call me?" he asked and didn't give her time to reply. "Where are you?"
"I'm in LA."
"Really? What's the address? I'll come right now."
She gave him the address and then hung the phone up.
"Well." she said, again to no one. "Here we go."
